Maintenance Strategies

Each of the proposed systems has to be maintained in order to retain the system in functional condition. For every system three different maintenance activities are distinguished. Every system can be inspected and cleaned, grasped under “Cleaning”. The next more comprehensive step would be to repair the system, put under the heading “Maintenance”. The ultimate step would be to “Replace” the whole system.

Different maintenance strategies:

We explore three different mainentance strategies. Regular, normal and rare maintanence. In the timelines below, you can see that the regular maintanence leads to less repairs. This is possible preferable on an island where every material to repair the systems needs to be transportet by ship.

  • Sewer System
    • IC.s – Cleaning Sewer System
    • M.s – Maintenance Sewer System
    • RP.s – Replace Sewer System
  • Roof
    • IC.r – Cleaning Roof
    • M.r – Maintenance Roof
    • RP.r – Replace Roof
  • Wind Turbines
    • IC.t – Cleaning Wind Turbines
    • M.t – Maintenance Wind Turbines
    • RP.t – Replace Wind Turbines
