Background
The goal of the analysis is to assess the environmental performance of a pile foundation. However, pile foundations are not quite typical for residential buildings. Doing this from a life cycle perspective and considering all stages from material production to usage and maintenance.

Design Option
Concrete pile
Pre-cast concrete Piles or Prefabricated concrete piles: Usually of the square triangle, circle, or octagonal section, they are produced in short lengths in one-meter intervals between 3 and 13 meters. They are pre-caste to be easily connected to reach the required length. This will not decrease the design load capacity. Reinforcement within the pile is necessary to help withstand handling and driving stresses.

Steel Pipe
Steel/ Iron piles are suitable for handling and driving in long lengths. Their relatively small cross-sectional area and their high strength make penetration easier in firm soil. They can be easily cut off or joined by welding.

Timber pile (wood)
Timber piles could be used for associative lightly loaded structures located within compressive types of soils along with high groundwater levels. Timber has a high weight-to-strength ratio and can be cut, shaped, and handled simply. If timber piles are wholly submerged, they have a long life.
