2. Goal and scope
In the previous project assignment different design options of various civil engineering systems were analyzed and compared. A preferred design option was chosen for each system based on its environmental impact.
The objective of this study is to assess an integrated civil engineering system, which is composed of four such individual systems. The assessment is carried out on the basis of environmental impact and cost-effectiveness. For that the life-cycle stages of manufacturing and production, and maintenance are considered. The focus is set on comparing different integration scenarios of the individual maintenance strategies and deciding on an integrated maintenance plan.
The following figure shows a system flow chart summarizing the scope and boundaries of the present project.
