4.1 Dealing with the Challenges

When working on an integration project such as this one, it is important to know how to overcome challenges in order to reach the intended goals. The figure below therefore presents how  the challenges presented in part 1.2 were overcome in order to reach the intended goals.

At the start of the assignment it was necessary for all group members to exchange all relevant information on their separate systems, and this exchange of information continued on throughout the assignment with the help of regular meetings. Furthermore, the main tasks were clearly defined in an ongoing process throughout the assignment, and the deadlines of these assignments were met in order to stick to the timeline that was set out.

When dealing with the goals & challenges it was important to always keep the final goal of integrating the separate systems into a functioning model within a specific context in mind. Therefore, the possible interfaces had to be analysed, and once the interfaces were decided on, the parameters for all sub-systems as well as for the interfaces had to be integrated into the model. When doing this it was important to keep the model as simple as possible, while still incorporating all relevant input into it. During this process it was crucial to consider sustainable solutions in order to minimize the impacts that the system has on its surrounding environment.
Finally, in order to reach the goal of guaranteeing a qualitative integrated system, a value analysis was conducted using all high-performance criteria from Assignment 2. This aided in deciding on the most suited alternative.
