Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is an effective method for evaluating the environmental impact of various systems.
This study evaluated five civil systems: a Steel Bridge, a Timber Bridge, an Airport Pavement, a Multistorey Building, and PV panels. It aimed to reduce maintenance time, increase lifespan, and understand the carbon footprint of each system.
In addition to analyzing CO2, SO2, and NOx emissions, the LCA also examined energy consumption. This study focuses on the sub-systems with the lowest pollution levels. To understand the impact of the integrated system over its entire life cycle, a life cycle analysis was performed. Based on the materials used in each system, the LCI (Life Cycle Inventory) was created (Table 1).

Both the LCI value and the environmental cost were considered during the LCA.
Energy consumption and GHG emission results for the integrated design options. This is shown in Table 2.
