HVAC System

 Ontology

Purpose:

This ontology is developed to show a variety of HVAC systems and their components when designing HVAC system, especially in a part of structure and mechanical engineering.

Scope:

This ontology includes concepts such as basic elements, materials used for heat transfer, possible HVAC system uses and their relations.

Intended Users:

The intended end-users of this ontology are designers and engineers who are involved in HVAC system of the building.

Intended Use:

This ontology is intended to be used when designers and engineers starts designing buildings or deciding which HVAC system to use in a specific building.

 Parametric Model

Purpose:

The optimal angle and size of the shading device are determined according to the date each year. This prevents sunlight from entering the building, saving energy required for cooling the building.

Parameters:

  • Length of the shading device -The longer the length of the device, the more low-altitude light can be prevented from entering the window. However, if the length of the device is made too long, not only the material cost problem but also the device fixing problem due to the weight may occur.
  • Angle of the device and window – If the angle between the device and the window is reduced too much, users will not be able to see the outside well, so it is necessary to consider also angle of the device.

High Performance Criteria:

The total amount of energy reduction used by a building at a specific time interval.
