Fire Station Building

RISK-BASED ASSESSMENT & SYSTEMS CONDITIONS.

An average fire station building has a 50-year life span. The aim of this assessment was to show how a fire station building deteriorates when is necessary to maintain the building, and calculate the probabilities.

LIFE CYCLE ANALYSIS

LCA

The main goal of this project is to calculate the amount of CO2, SO2, NOx gases with carbon footprint and the amount of energy consumed.

The below figure represents the scope and the boundaries of the assessment:

Life Cycle Timeline: For prefab concrete columns, structural strengthening using carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP)for every 25 years, maintenance (M) for every 10 years, and steel jacketing(SJ)for every 30 years were defined as necessary. For steel columns, cathodic protection was designed for every 40 years, also maintenance and carbon fiber reinforced polymer strengthening. For cast-in-place reinforced concrete, reinforced concrete jacketing(RCJ) is planned for every 35 years, together with maintenance and cathodic protection. The start date was selected as 01-01-2021 and the lifetime of the Fire Station building was 100 years.
