Wastewater Treatment Plant: Parametric Model

Introduction:

Since the representation of a parametric model of a wastewater treatment plant is very complex due to the various sub-processes with different machines and dimensions, I decided to model a pergola/steel hall structure that can be used variably on the grounds of a wastewater treatment plant. If the sustainability aspect is taken into account, a material decision could then be made in favor of wood, for example, in order to keep the possible CO2 emissions as low as possible.

Performance Criteria:

To evaluate the performance of my structure, i used the 2 criteria: normal tension and shear tension, which are intended to ensure the load-bearing capacity of the structure. Depending on the input parameters for height, width and length, this can then be used to calculate the feasibility of the project.

Determined design parameters: Width of the struts; Height of the struts; Length of the Struts

Input Parameter – Min. value – Max. value
Pergola Length (L) meters – 1 – 30
Pergola Height (H) meters – 1 – 10
Pergola Width (W) #Streben – 2 – 10

Since the hall structure is not intended to carry very high loads, other relations were not mandatory to specify or to calculate with the verifications. The verification structure can be duplicated and can then also be reproduced with other methods.

Logic of the parametric model:

First of all, I deconstructed my product into its individual parts in order to understand which parameters are the decisive ones that I need to use to plan and design the rest. Thus, I first determined the height and the width, because with clamped structures, these play a major role in the load-bearing behavior, so also in the later implementation. In the course of this I started to implement my defining points of my pergola to be able to develop my 2D and 3D model. I then connected these points 1D with the Curve method, so that I had a 1D starting frame. This I have multiplied by the Translate methods with the Integer slider and the Steps, variably adaptable made, so that they can be adapted to the physical conditions of the Pergola. To get a 3D version of my model. Building on this, I have dealt with the foundation to ensure on the one hand the connecting component, but also to increase the stability.
